Happy New Years eve! 

It's hard to believe, but yet another year has passed us by. This year had its tribulations (the economy, continuation of wars, natural disasters), but it also has has joyful moments (the election of U.S. President Elect Barack Obama, the Olympics). For each person, the ups and down of 2008 were experiences unique to that person. I hope that 2009 is even better than the year gone by for everybody, and that there are many more ups than downs in the upcoming twelve months.

Right now, i feel oddly drawn to old photographs which have a creepy feel to them. Maybe because most of these are family photos, of people who I have never met, but i feel as if all of these have a slightly non-human quality to them.

And, ever since i was young, I have had a bizarre fascination with strange, creepy or unusual vintage advertisements. Some of these (namely the Gillette one) give me the shivers.

Yesterday my mother and I went vintaging (verb: the act of trolling through racks upon racks of musty old clothes in search of treasure). We got these two beauties: a 1960's maxi cape and a '70's feather trimmed mini dress. I must say, there are some vair strange things to be found in Palm Beach vintage and thrift shops. Think: a lurid pink sweater knitted out of human hair. And i do not lie. There really was one.
